FOSS meeting in Stockholm

14 February 2010

On the 24:th feb there will be a FOSS meeting in Kista/Stockholm I will be attending. It seems like there will be some really nice people there and I might find some new contacts with the same interest.

I’ve been looking into spacewalk lately and I think there must be some better tool that can make management of servers better and allowing me to be distribution agnostic. I usually want to host more that one distribution of linux in a system – taking advantage from all of them. RedHat for easy administration and “vanilla” sysadmin task and debian for heavy workload and stability.

Designing systems nowadays can be so much more interesting than simply choosing a distribution that goes along with your sales-management. Nowadays you can find linux sysadmin almost everywhere with enough knowledge from almost all popular distros. Time to take advantage of that and take it to the next level.

Hello world again

Restarting my blog today.

Trying to slow down on some projects now that I’m soon starting my parental leave to focus on my son. After all, life is about life!

I will still keep on trying to get time for developing ishare.nu and perhaps a little-some on https://launchpad.net/supporter.

Cleaning up my desk @ work and doing the time reporting before leaving for lunch in Stockholm with Lars and Robin at 11:30 ish.

I’ll be speaking at the http://www.pdc.kth.se/training/2009/SummerSchool/Agenda/ on the 27:th august about the future of super computing which I hope to make exciting and inspiring for those students. I’ll probably focus on the development of a rich ecosystem for parallel programs and services. But we’ll see.

The 12:th august its Open Source Sweden members meeting that I intend to participate in. This time, discussions will be on the recent fuzz about RMS critisism on how the Pirate Party agenda might backfire on FOSS http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/pirate-party.html. That will be very interesting. I havent given this enough thought already, but I recognize the fact that freedom clashes with the right of ownership. A good solution that can balance these facts needs to be carved out.
